Our initial findings indicate that while the specific MSP initiatives did not survive, in many cases it is the teacher leader skills and practices that were developed through the MSP project that have been able to transcend the end of the funding and to continue to move district mathematics reform efforts forward. Our data suggests that the leadership development program that our lead teachers engaged in was highly effective in terms of developing teacher leadership with "staying power."
We will be sharing "guiding principles" of our Leadership Development Program, detailing what we have found to be most valuable supported by the evidence collected. Session participants will have an opportunity to "hear our story" of developing teacher leaders through our MSP project and then to discuss and share their own experiences working with districts in mathematics reform efforts, reflecting in particular on how our findings resonate with their experiences or where they are in conflict.
