We will share relevant anecdotal data from MMT participants and from two members of the MLI management team who participate(d) in the rigorous course and exam with Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 lead teachers. We will also share quantitative data that demonstrates the impact on the number of certified MMTs in the state and in the two districts.
- From the original 33 Cohort 1 MLI lead teachers who participated in the first academic year in 2005-2006, 22 out of 30 remaining (73%) prepared for this very rigorous exam in 2006-2007.
- 19 out of 22 Cohort 1 participants tested (representing an 86% testing rate) and 15 out of 19 (78.9 %) testers earned the MMT credential in 2007.
- The number of MMT-Grade 8-12-certified teachers increased by 56% increase across the state following the summer, 2007 administrations of the MMT exams. This increase can be attributed to the MLI Cohort 1 teachers.
- 12 MMTs remain active in MLI to date, representing 57 percent of the Cohort 1 teachers currently active in MLI. Two others were promoted to district-level mentor positions and 1 left the profession.
- The number of MMT-certified Grade 8-12 teachers increased from 0 in both districts to 6 in AISD and to 9 in HISD.
- From the original 28 Cohort 2 MLI lead teachers who participated in their first academic year in 2008-2009, 14 out of the remaining 21 (67%), are currently preparing for the MMT examination. One Cohort 1 teacher is also preparing for the MMT with this group.
- 28.5% of currently active MLI teachers are MMT-certified for Grades 8-12.
